Remo Vitale
Remo Vitale, 93, of Erie, passed away Friday, March 8, 2024 at UPMC Hamot. He was born December 2, 1930 in Forli del Sannio, Italy, son of the late Antimo and Emilia (Mazzocco) Vitale.
Remo immigrated to the United States in 1960 and later went back to Italy to marry his wife, Francesca. They returned to the United States to begin their life together. Remo built two homes for his family while working as a Construction Laborer for Labor Local Union 603.
Remo enjoyed gardening, wine making, bocce, and playing the clarinet. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Francesca Navarino Vitale; two infant grandsons Anthony and Michael Vitale; three brothers, Michael, Bruno, and Arsenio (Sam) Vitale; and one sister Maria Altadonna.
He is survived by his two sons Antonio "Tony" Vitale and his wife Michelle and Salvatore "Sal" Vitale and his wife Lina; two grandchildren Salina and Lucas Vitale; and two sisters Anna Groenendaal and her husband Gene and Carmela Scalise. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and may attend a Service there on Friday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint George Church, 5145 Peach Street, at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, www.shrinerschildrens.org. Remo's family would like to thank the staff at Fairview Manor and UPMC Hamot for their wonderful care.
