Riccardo Gentile, age 94, formerly of Cascade Street, died Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Golden Living Western Reserve. He was born June 23, 1914 in Forli Del Sannio, Campobasso, Italy. After the death of his wife and twin daughters, he came to the United States to start a new life. He married Esther Cifolelli in 1958 and they lived until November 2006 in the Cifolelli homestead on Cascade Street. They then moved to Golden Living Western Reserve where she died in 2008.

He worked as a shoe repair man in Italy and at the Boston Store in the United States. He was also employed by the Louis Marx Toy Company. He was a member of Saint Paul's Roman Catholic Church. He loved to watch football and baseball. He made two trips to Italy after he came to America. He remained in close touch with his relatives in Italy, calling and writing them regularly. He was proud of his nephews in Italy and in the United States.

He was preceded in death by his brother Silvio of Ostia, Italy and a sister Islanda Calabrese of Forli Del Sannio, Italy.

He is survived by two sisters, Eda Dandrea and Philomena Perbellino, and two nephews, both of Forli Del Sannio, Italy. In addition he is survived by his sister-in-law, Alberta Cifolelli Lamb and her husband Charles of Westport, Connecticut; three nephews, Mark Lamb and his wife Amy of Kirkland, Washington, John Lamb of Fairfield, Connecticut and Todd Lamb of New York, New York; one grand-niece and nephew, Mira and Adam Lamb, both of Kirkland, Washington; one step-niece and nephew, Sister Katherine Disbrow, OSB of Erie, and Henry Disbrow of LaVerne, California. He is also survived by step-grand nephews, John and Thomas Groh and one step-grand niece, Tina Groh, all of Erie.

Friends may call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM and are invited to attend a service there on Tuesday At 9:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 1617 Walnut Street, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
