Richard Joseph Desser, 82, of Leesburg, FL., formerly of Erie, died Thursday, February 1, 2007 at his residence. He was born May 24, 1924 in Erie, a son of the late Stanley and Anna Desser.

He was preceded in death by his son, David Desser; a grandson, Trevor Eback; one brother, Leonard Desser and one sister, Louise Murphy.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Mildred Hoffman Desser; three sons, Tim Desser of Venice, FL, Dale Desser of Erie and Terry Desser of Winchester, VA; three daughters, Susan Desser of Stephens City, VA, Sandra Atkins of Leesburg, VA and Jill Broaddus of Cross Junction, VA and four sisters, Josephine Lipinski, Ann Bielak, Rita Glaz and Dorothy Sulecki. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren

Mr. Desser was a graduate of Saint John’s Kanty Prep School and served in the United States Navy during WWII. He retired from G.E. after 38 years of service.

Friends may attend a Memorial Funeral Mass on Saturday at Saint Joseph Church Bread of Life Community, 147 West 24th Street, at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
