Richard W. Pletz
Richard W. Pletz, 85, of Erie, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family in his Lazy Boy chair with Neil Diamond playing in the background. He was born October 6, 1932 in Erie, a son of the late George and Julia Lidell Pletz.
Richard was a graduate of East High School. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War.
Richard worked at several manufacturing businesses in Erie and retired from GE as a Welder. After his retirement he was a greeter at Sam's Club for 10 years, where he developed many friendships and everyone knew his name.
He was a fan of horse racing and a member of several bowling leagues.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Carmella Baldi Pletz; two brothers, George and Robert Pletz; and three sisters, Doris Fox, Katie Danowski, and Lois Hiegel.
He is survived by three daughters, Patricia Williams of Erie, Linda Evans (Matt) of Greene Township, and Clara Williams of Phoenix, AZ. and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a Service there on Saturday at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1553 East Grandview Blvd., at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
