Robert D. Moyer Sr

Robert D. Moyer, Sr. age 78, of Erie, died Friday, August 26, 2011 at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born June 5, 1933 in Erie, a son of the late James E. and Edna M. Diehl Moyer. He had served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He had worked at Riley Stoker for 43 years, retiring in 1995. He was an avid Steelers fan and enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law Richard Niebauer and three brothers.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Virginia I. Miller Moyer, of Erie; four daughters, Barbara Rodriguez and her husband, Manuel, Virginia Moyer, Katina Moyer, all of Erie; and Sharon Niebauer, Albion, PA; four sons, Robert D. Moyer, Jr. and his wife, Jan, and Gerald K. Moyer and his wife, Diane, all of Erie; Mark Moyer, Albion, PA, and Michael Moyer of Wesleyville, PA. Also surviving are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and special nieces Donna Socki and Shirley Moyer, both of Erie.

Friends may call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, Monday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. are invited to attend a service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery Chapel on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
