Robert Johnson

Robert Johnson, age 84, of Erie, passed away at his home on Monday, March 21, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was born in Erie on February 10, 1938, a son of the late Robert and Carmella Manna Johnson.

He attended Academy High School and then enlisted in the US Navy. He served aboard the USS Bennington for two years and spent the remainder of his time at the Naval Air Station in Memphis, Tennessee. He worked as Chief Electrician for the City of Erie for 25 years until his retirement. Providing for his family was the most important aspect of his life. After his retirement Bob enjoyed fishing with his wife Annette and spent every moment with her and his family. During the holiday season he would help the homeless, driving around and giving money to those he would find in need.

Bob's favorite hobbies were listening to music, watching professional boxing, and he was a car enthusiast. During his life he also enjoyed scuba diving, boating, target shooting, and riding his motorcycle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Annette Mezzacapo Johnson; and his sisters Shirley Stratton and Joyce Adams.

He is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Gorr (Daniel), Monica Eberhart (Chris), and Traci Brutto (Blaise); and his grandchildren, Travis, Dustin, Danielle and Dylan Gorr, Andrea Vannucci, Jenna Mabie, Caila and Cyle Holland, and Alyssa and Payton Brutto. He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
