Ronald J. DiVecchio, 90, of Erie passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, November 24 2024, after a brief illness. He was born November 18 1934 in Erie son of the late Guilio and Anita (Angelotti) DiVecchio.

Ron was a proud graduate of Strong Vincent High School, Class of 1953. He served in the United States Army and attended Gannon University.

Ron worked as a Superintendent for the City of Erie Water Department until his retirement in 1992.

He was a founding member and the current President of the Mazzini Charitable Foundation. He was an active member of PROBUS Club and the Serra Club of Erie, as well as a former member of the Wolves Club of Erie and the Sons of Italy. Ron played a key role in assisting the SSJ Neighborhood Network to establish a weekly soup kitchen and served on the board for the Maria House Project. In 2012 he was on the Committee for the Perry 200 Bicentennial Commemoration.

Ron was an avid sports fan following the New York Giants, Yankees and Kentucky Basketball. He also enjoyed golf and bocce.

Above everything, Ron cherished his Faith, family, his Italian heritage and his many friends. His over 40-year dedication to St Paul's Church earned him the title "Chairman for Life" of the Italian Festival. Ron was a devout Catholic, he attended daily Mass and had a great love for the Lord. He will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Laura and brothers John, Robert and Julio.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ann Jakubcsik DiVecchio; three daughters Christine Walnoha (Lenny), Sue Rzepecki (Dave) and Julie Wilson (Ken); and five grandchildren, Alexa Cerovac (Sasa) Lindsay Rzepecki, Nick Walnoha, Scott Rzepecki and Jack Walnoha; one great - granddaughter, Olivia and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends are invited to call on Friday, November 29th at the John R Orlando Funeral Home, Inc. 2122 Raspberry Street, from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm and may attend a Funeral Mass at Saint Paul Church 1617 Walnut Street, on a day to be announced at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Maria House Project, mariahouseproject.org or the SSJ Neighborhood Network ssjnn.org.
