Rose D. "Rosie" Cavicchio
Rose D. "Rosie" D'Agostino Cavicchio, 91, of Erie, passed away on Saturday,April 30, 2016 at the Sarah Reed Retirement Center, on her 66th wedding anniversary.
She was born in Erie on April 14, 1925, a daughter of the late Antonio and Maria Campanelli D'Agostino .
At the age of one and a half years, Rosie's mother passed away unexpectedly and she was entrusted to the care of her Godparents, Angelo and Filomena Bucci, until she was reunited with her father and new mother, Mary Amatangelo D'Agostino who care for her into her adult years.
Rosie graduated in the 1943 class of Strong Vincent High School, married her beloved Rudy on April 30, 1950, and had three children, Christine, Anthony and Timothy. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish. Rosie worked at Loblaws, Erie Resistor and Sarah Reed. She loved to knit and crochet, making many sweater sets and baby blankets for newborns.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rudy in 1993; infant sister, Virginia; and brother Leonard.
Survivors include her daughter, Christine (Tim) Schloss of Erie; two sons, Anthony "Tony" and Timothy Cavicchio of Erie; grandchildren Jackie Cavicchio, Salamanca, Spain, Anthony and Gina Cavicchio of Erie; sister, Rita (Jim) McCall of Erie; sisters-in-law, Serafina Cavicchio, Viola Leone, Orienta Iesue,and Lawanna Cavicchio. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Tuesday from 3 - 7 p.m. and may attend a Funeral Mass on Wednesday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 816 West 26th Street, at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum.
