Roxie L. Conner Nicholls, age 81, of Erie, PA died, Friday, September 12, 2008 at her daughter's home in Fairview, PA. She was born April 12, 1927 in Moundsville, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Aaron F. and Minnie M. Rodgers Conner.

She was the oldest of seven children, Eva Dale, Doris Dawn, Betty, Martha, Albert and Rita Darling. She was a graduate of Ellsworth High School, Class of 1946. She resided in Scenery Hill, PA, Houston, PA, Washington, PA, Oil City, PA and Erie, PA. She worked for Bell Telephone Co. as a Telephone Operator from 1946 until 1957. She was a Tri-Chem Arts and Crafts Representative for 20 years, a Luzier Cosmetic Representative for 49 years and an elderly care giver for 16 years before retiring. She also worked as an Electoral Judge in Houston, PA for 14 years and for the Election Board in Oil City, PA for the past four years. She was active with Chestnut Ridge-Pawnee-Pamona Grange for over 40 years.

She belonged to the Christian Women's Association and Red Hat Society and was member of Second Presbyterian Church, Military Support Group and PA Singles Group all in Oil City. She enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, playing piano, crocheting, having parties for the kids and watching the Steelers, Ellen and Soap Operas.

She was preceded in death by a son, Duane Curtis Nicholls. She is survived by a son, Kennis Ray Nicholls and his wife Sara Lubeck Nicholls of Idaho; a daughter, Carol Lea Nicholls of Fairview, PA and three grandsons, Jeremy Robert Nicholls of Pittsburgh, PA, Aaron Robert Nicholls of Oregon and Blaine Jeffrey Nicholls of Washington. She is also survived by a great-granddaughter, Alexandria Joyce Nicholls.

No calling hours will be observed. A Memorial Service will be held later at a time to be announced. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Roxie's name to Operation Military Support, PO Box 901, San Andreas, CA 95249 or to VNA Association of Erie Hospice, 1305 Peach St., Erie, PA 16501. The John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry St., is handling arrangements.
