Sandra M. Kierzek Buffalari

Sandra M. Kierzek Buffalari "Sass", 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday September 25, 2017 at the LECOM Senior Living Center after a lengthy illness. Sandra was born on November 2, 1946 to the late Stella Krysiak Kierzek and Leonard J. Kierzek. She was a lifelong resident of Erie.

Sandra graduated from St. Benedict Academy and after graduation she worked in various positions in the medical field before becoming a full time homemaker. On May 26, 1973 she married the love of her life, Lawrence L. "Buff" Buffalari; they recently celebrated 44 years of marriage.

She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends as well as hosting and celebrating holidays and special occasions in her home. Nobody ever left Sass's house hungry or without leftovers.

She loved taking care of her family and over many decades did a fantastic job in helping raise her niece and nephew and grand -nephews.

Sandra loved her sports especially the New York Yankees and her eyes would light up for her most favorite and adored player, Derek Jeter.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents Stella and Leonard, her brother Leonard J. Kierzek II and her mother- in -law Nancy A. Buffalari.

She leaves behind many who loved her including her husband "Buff", her sister- in- law Frances M. Kierzek, her niece Marie E. Heberlein, her nephew Leonard J. Kierzek III and her grand-nephews Timothy J. and Joshua C. Heberlein as well as numerous very special nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives. Sass will be missed deeply everyday by her family and she is etched in our hearts forever.

The family would like to thank the staff of 4 West at the LECOM Senior Living Center and the VNA Hospice for their kindness and compassion to Sandra and all of us during her time there.

Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Friday at Holy Family Church, 913 Fulton Street, at Noon. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
