Sandy M. DiSalvo Phillips

Sandy M. DiSalvo Phillips, age 87, formerly of West 22nd Street, died Monday, December 1, 2008 at Presque Isle Rehabilitation & Nursing Center after an extended illness.

She was born June 3, 1921 in Erie, a daughter of the late John "Batista" and Anna "Nina" LaTona DiSalvo. She was a member of Saint Paul RC Church, St. John of God, Ladies Montenero Society, the Giuseppe Mazzini Ladies Auxiliary and Marx Toys Grandma's Club.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas A. Phillips; two brothers, Frank DiSalvo and his wife Clementine and John "Midge" DiSalvo and his wife JoAnn.

She is survived by her three daughters, Nina Thompson and her husband Bob, Evelyn Smith and Deborah Phillips; one son, Angelo Phillips and his wife Rhonda; one sister-in-law, Geraldine Kaufmann and her husband Richard all of Erie and seven grandchildren, Carl Ellis, Douglas Ellis and his wife Erin, Michael Smith and his fiancée, Ella Kurek, David Smith and his wife Raelynn, Thomas Phillips Jr. and his wife Karla, Laurie Twohig and her husband Tom and Laurel Phillips. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm and may attend a service there on Thursday at 9:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass at Paul RC Church, 1617 Walnut Street, at 10 am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
