Shirley A. Vella Geer

Shirley A. Vella Geer, 84, of Erie, died Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at Hamot Medical Center after a brief illness.

She was born October 6, 1925 in Erie, a daughter of the late Pasquale and Myrtle Fromneck Vella. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Norbert, Bud and Richard Schneider and three sisters, Olive Renaud, June Mauer and Vincenza Vella.

She is survived by one son, Richard A. Vella and his wife Jane of Cambridge Springs and one sister-in-law, Beverly Schneider of Erie. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Richard A. Vella, Nicholas P. Vella and his wife Lisa, Shaina Vella, Brooke Burdick. Three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm and may attend a service there on Saturday at 10:00 am. Burial will be in Erie Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Western PA-Erie Division, 2022 W 38th St., Erie, PA 16508.
