Shirley Ann DiNicola Salamone
Shirley Ann DiNicola Salamone, 74, of Erie, died Sunday, March 30, 2008 at Hamot Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born March 11, 1934 in Erie a daughter of the late Carlo and Yolanda Montagna DiNicola.
She was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School and had worked at Sarah Reed Childrens Center and Quality Markets. She enjoyed slot machines, playing cards with her sisters, collecting nickels, and caring for her eight children.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles L. Salamone. She is survived by one daughter, Lynette M. Whitney and her husband Michael of Seven Hills, OH; three sons, Charles V. Salamone and his wife Sharon, James S. Salamone and his wife Debbie, and Tom C. Salamone and his wife, Patti; one brother, Vincent DiNicola and three sisters, Angela Hayes, Theresa Neary and Margaret Panetta and her husband, Jim, all of Erie. She is also survived by four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a service there on Wednesday at a time to be announced, followed by a Funeral Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1626 West 26th Street, at a time to be announced. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Erie City Mission, 1023 French Street, Erie, PA 16501 or to the American Heart Association, 823 Filmore Avenue, Erie, PA 16505.
