Silvio Gerbi
Silvio Gerbi, 92, of Erie died, Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Saint Mary's Home of Erie after a brief illness.He was born October 3, 1921 in Erie, a son of the late Vittorio and Leonetta Bonicoli Gerbi and step-son of the late Ugo Ferri.
He served in the United States Army during World War II as a Master Sergeant.
Silvio co-owned and operated DiSil's Cafe.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman and sportsman.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, John Leath.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ada Panicco Gerbi of Erie; one daughter, Denise G. Leath (Vaughn) of Wilmette, IL; one son, Bruce J. Gerbi (Diana) of Mendota Heights, MN and one sister, Lorraine Squeglia (Richard) of Erie. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Thursday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a Funeral Mass on Friday at Saint Luke RC Church, 421 East 38th Street, at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Saint Mary's Home of Erie, 607 East 26th Street, Erie, PA 16504.
