Sylvia G. Nicholson Grier, age 91, of Erie, died Friday, November 2, 2007 at Golden Living Center, Erie.

She was born July 31, 1916 in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. She lived in Erie since 1988. She was a dedicated matriarch who was greatly loved by her family, and also her spiritual family in the United States and Canada.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney.

She is survived one brother, Vincent Nicholson; children, Ruth, Joseph and Amanda; 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

A private service will be held at the family’s convenience. The John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, is handling arrangements.
