Sylvia L. DiNicola Hosu

Sylvia L. DiNicola Hosu, age 64, of Erie, died Monday, December 14, 2009 at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA after an extended illness.

A lifelong resident of Erie, she was born October 29, 1945, a daughter of Verna Guilianelli DiNicola of Erie and the late Carmine DiNicola. She was an avid artist and enjoyed playing cards and tennis.

In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her son, Dr. Nicholas J. Hosu and her brother, Dr. Nicholas DiNicola.

In addition to her mother she is survived by her husband of 44 years, John Hosu; one daughter, Karla J. Webb and her husband Paul both of Erie; one sister, Kathryn "Kitty" DiNicola of Houston, TX and her mother-in-law, Gerri Repko of Erie. She is also survived by five grandchildren, and many aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm and may attend a service there on Saturday at 9:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Peace Church, 2401 West 38th Street, at 10 am. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to the Dr. Nicholas J. Hosu Memorial Trust Fund c/o Erie Community Foundation, 459 West 6th St., Erie, PA 16507.
