Sylvia R. Presogna Pieretti

Sylvia Rose (Celia) Presogna Pieretti, age 98, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Winter Park Towers, Winter Park, Florida surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Erie on December 7, 1912, daughter of the late Thomas and Cecelia (Gigliotti) Presogna. She worked at Sterling Seal for 30 years. She was a lifelong member of Saint Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Saint Paul's Rosary Society, Montenero Ladies' Auxiliary and the La Nuova Aurora Society. She loved playing cards with her friends and family and was an avid reader.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Phil Pieretti and her brothers John, Ralph, Dominick and Arnold (Mondu) Presogna and her sisters Ligia Yacobozzi, Florence (Maina) Fabrizio, and Rose Masi.

Sylvia is survived by her two loving daughters, Janet Moore and her husband David of Orlando, FL, and Marlene Spiegel and her husband John of Orlando, FL. She is also survived by her four grandchildren that she cherished and loved, Erica Moore of Orlando, FL, Marne' Moore-McMurray and her husband Joe of Los Angeles, CA, Corrie (Spiegel) Kiesel and her husband Chris of Baton Rouge, LA and Phil Spiegel and his wife Jennifer of Richmond, VA. She is also survived by four adoring great-grandchildren, Celia and Claire Kiesel and Lucas and Colin Spiegel. She is further survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Also, she is survived by her sister-in-law, Viola Pieretti, of Erie, PA.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, Thursday from 3 to 8 pm and may attend a service there on Friday at 9 am followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint Paul RC Church, 1617 Walnut Street, at 9:30 am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to VNA Hospice Services of Erie County, 2253 W Grandview Blvd., Erie, PA, 16506.

The family would like to thank everyone at Winter Park Towers, especially the activities department and the nurses for all their love, kindness and caring support. We would also like to thank Hospice of the Comforters.
