Theodore Colicchio
Theodore Colicchio, age 93, formerly of Raspberry Street, died Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at Sarah Reed Retirement Center after an extended illness.
He was born July 7, 1916 in Ashtabula, Ohio a son of the late Donato and Julia Colicchio. He lived in Erie most of his life. He was an avid craftsman and enjoyed bowling, bocce, golfing, playing cards and wine making. He liked watching sports; his teams included the Pittsburgh Panthers, Cleveland Brown and Indians and most recently the Chicago Cubs. He had bowled in the Brother's Tournament and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Florence T. Augustine Colicchio; a granddaughter, Cheryl Matz; one brother, Benny Colicchio and two sisters, Helen Church and Edith Nerone.
He is survived by twin daughters, Nora Boehm and her husband Walter and Judy DiMattio and her husband Richard; two sons, Ronald T. Colicchio and Donald N. Colicchio and his wife Janet all of Erie; three brothers, John Colicchio of Ashtabula, OH, Tom Colicchio of Wickliffe, OH and Robert Colicchio of Ashtabula, OH. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. and may attend a service there Friday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint Paul RC Church, 1617 Walnut Street, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Sarah Reed Retirement Center, 227 West 22nd Street, Erie, PA 16502.
The Colicchio Family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Sarah Reed Retirement Center for the loving care they gave to Theodore, affectionately known as their "Teddy Bear", during his stay there.
