Thomas E. Jordano
Thomas E. "Muzzy" Jordano, age 96, of Erie, died Friday April 30, 2010, at the Sarah A. Reed Retirement Center. He was born November 19, 1913 in Erie, a son of the late Eugene and Fortuna Leone Jordano.
He lived in Erie most of his life. He had worked at National Erie and Bucyrus Erie. Muzzy liked to golf, play bocce and bowl, he and his brothers won the Erie Brothers Bowling Tournament. Music, dancing and making pizzelles were his hobbies. However his main passion was driving to; a ball game in Cleveland, a cup of coffee in Buffalo or Niagara Falls, a trip to Cape Cod or the North Pole (New York of course). He and his navigator Pia, along with their son, would gather up their nieces or nephews and off they would go.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of over 70 years, Pia DiBacco Jordano; four brothers, James "Max" Jordano, John Jordano, Louis Jordano and Anthony Jordano and two sisters, Mariom Punizzo and Mary Kobel.
He is survived by his son, Dr. Peter T. Jordano and wife Cynthia Murphy of Erie; two brothers, Eugene Jordano and Dominic Jordano and wife Mary both of Erie; three grandchildren, Dr. Avra Alter and husband Dr. Steven Alter, Jason and Micah Jordano and three step-grandchildren, Mark Murphy and wife Leah, Melinda and Ryan Murphy. He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren, 2 step great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call on Wednesday at Saint Paul RC Church, 1617 Walnut Street, at 9am until the time of the Funeral Mass there at 10 am. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Saint Paul Church, 1617 Walnut Street, Erie, PA 16502 or to the Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation, 1001 State St, STE 1400, Erie, PA 16501. The John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, Erie 16502 is handling arrangements.
