Verna M. Guilianelli DiNicola

Verna M. Guilianelli DiNicola, age 98, of Erie, formerly of West 39th Street, died Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Brevillier Village.

She was born November 3, 1913 in Erie, a daughter of the late Guido and Silvia Bonali Guilianelli. She lived in Erie her entire life. Verna had worked at Marx Toys and was active in their union. She loved her family and enjoyed pinochle, antiquing and shopping.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Carmine A. "Carl" DiNicola; one daughter, Sylvia L. Hosu; one son, Dr. Nicholas DiNicola; a grandson, Dr. Nicholas Hosu; one brother, Alexander Guilianelli and two sisters, Lena Fachetti and Victoria DeMarco.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn "Kitty" DiNicola of Houston, TX; a son-in-law, John Hosu of Erie; three grandchildren, Karla Hosu Webb and husband Paul of Erie, Nicholas DiNicola of Naples, FL and Kitty DiNicola of Detroit, MI and four great-grandchildren, Alyxandria Hosu, Nicholas Webb, John "Jack" Moylan and Brynn Moylan all of Erie. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a service there on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint Paul RC Church, 1617 Walnut Street, at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Dr. Nicholas Hosu Memorial Fund, c/o Erie Community Foundation, 459 West 6th Street, Erie, PA 16507.
