Virginia A. Russell Holmes, 78, former residence of Friendship Towers, died Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at UPMC Hamot. She was born March 9, 1936 in Erie, a daughter of the late Earl and Veronica Hunter Russell.

Virginia enjoyed arts and crafts.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Alyce Sprague; brothers, Herbert, Richard, James and Teddy Russell and sisters, Betty and Gloria Russell.

She is survived by her children, Lewis Sprague, Eleanor Conner, Rick Sprague (Brenda), Rebecca O'Connor (Jesus Burgos), Arthur Sprague, Ruth Bingaman (Boyd) and Kimberly Kelner (Joe); siblings, William Russell, Fred Russell, Jack Russell (Annie), Esther Kuczynski, Janice Loop, Charlene Kuna, Sandy Wilson (David), Trudy Robson (Dave), Arthur Russell (Sandy), Albert Russell (Charlotte) and Edward Russell. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, 4 great great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday at Solomon's Porch Apostolic Assembly, 202 East 11th Street, at noon. Burial will be private in Laurel Hill Cemetery. The John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, is handling arrangements.
