William Dennis "Bill" Heintz
William Dennis "Bill" Heintz, 82, of Erie, died unexpectedly Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Saint Vincent Health Center. He was born January 31, 1934, in Erie, a son of the late Charles and Eva Fileshifter Heintz.
He was a graduate of Academy High School Class of 1952 and attended Behrend College. He served in the United States Army.
Bill was employed as a carpenter for Erie Local #91. He was a member of Saint George Church, Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, and the Siebenbuerger Club.
He enjoyed golfing, baseball, bowling, and traveling with family and friends. He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Chuck and John Heintz and one sister, Kathleen Borgia (Tullio.)
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Ann King Heintz of Erie; two daughters, Mary Jo Cook (Drue) of Erie and Meg Zack (Tim) of Columbus, OH; three sons, Mike Heintz (Kelly) of Salt Lake City, UT, Bill Heintz of Simi Valley, CA, and Tom Heintz of Erie; one brother, Dan Heintz (Solveig) of Charleston, SC; and nine grandchildren, Brieann (JT), Amber (Aaron), Kyle, Taylor, Reann, Jimmy (Heather), Michelle (Casey), Abby, and Timmy. He is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Friday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. and may attend a Funeral Mass on Monday at Saint George Church, 5145 Peach Street, at 11 a.m. with Msgr. Richard Mayer as celebrant. A rosary will be said by the Legion of Mary at the funeral home on Friday at 5:45 p.m. Burial will be private in Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
